Sneak preview from Joan Elliott

Hello dear readers!

How nice that CrossStitcher now has a blog so we can share news. First off, I hope you are all enjoying the wonderful new projects the magazine is offering every month. I've just sent off a new Christmas commission to Cathy. It's a lovely table set, perfect for all your Holiday entertaining. Look for it in the upcoming Christmas issue.

It has been a busy year so far. I'm happy to tell you that I have another book in the works with David & Charles. All the stitched models and manuscript are in so you will be seeing the final results when it's published this coming winter. It is a book filled with designs especially for women so I'm hoping you'll find lots of projects you can't resist! I've been busy with magazine commissions, kit designing for Design Works Crafts and am also working on another contributory book for David & Charles.

On a personal note, I'm looking forward to our summer in the country. I've managed to sneak enough weekends in to drive up and plant my veggie garden again this year. On our last visit we saw lots of blueberry and raspberry blossoms so we are sure to have a summer filled with all these delights. Now... if we can keep the raccoons, deer and wild turkeys from getting to them before we do! My husband and I feel so blessed to be able to escape the city for a bit every year. The best part is that while I can continue to work on my designs throughout the summer, I also get to take my breaks in the garden and walk barefoot in the green grass... a heavenly treat for this city dweller!

Until next time, happy stitching!

Joan

Hi my name is Rebecca and I would like to say Hi from Australia. I buy The Cross Stitch every month (well every 4 to 6 weeks) when it comes out. And I love it. I would have to say that my favourite designers are Joan Elliott, Ellen Maurer-Stroh, and Teresa Wentzler. I am over three quarters of the way through Joan Elliott's gorgeous Renaissance lady, When I have finished I will send in a picture. (I am also after Joan’s new book “Cross Stitch Wit & Wisdom: Over 45 Designs with Words to Brighten Your Day” but can not find it here in Australia in and I am hanging out to start cross stitch something out of the book. But as my mother says patience is a virtue.” I am now in starting to look at my next project. I am looking at doing the “Maria Diaz's Seafarer's Globe” in the next issue when it comes out here in Australia. I think I am going to have to physic myself up for that one. It will be a great challenge. . Thanks again for all the wonderful hint and tips that are thought out the magazine. I really do love sitting down with a hot cuppa and planning my next projects.

Thanks again
Rebecca

I really love all Joan's design and have been struggling to find two of her kits or designs but have been unable to do so both in UK and US. They are the BEARS HOUSE RULES and KITTEN'S HOUSE RULES.If anyone have it or know where I can get them from, I will be very thankful.
Thank you
