Favourite designs?

Well it's nearly time for you all to see our new-look issue and we're very excited – we can't wait to hear what you think!

One of the main features in the new-look magazine is the range of projects and designs we're going to include. There will be everything from big, indepth projects that experienced stitchers will love to do, to quick makes if you only have a couple of hours.

So what is your favourite type of project? I really like bold, modern designs with big blocks of colour but they aren't always the most fun to stitch. Sometimes it can be nice to do small areas to watch a design come to life. I think it depends on the type of mood I'm in and how many colour changes I want to do!

What about you? Do you like more modern prints or are you a traditional stitcher? And how do you feel about cute designs and characters?

To share your views with us just post a comment below.

Hi Sally!!! Just like you it all depends upon how I feel, every passing minute is a different one...I am really into whatever takes my fancy, and what I love about your magazine, is that it is all there, whatever mood I am in, there is always something I want to stitch, whether it's a cutie, or traditional, or something zippy that isn't your grandma's cross stitch!!!! I totally dig your magazine, the only problem I ever have with it, like many others I am sure...is that I never have enough time to do them all!!!! I am writing from Canada, and I get the mag almost a month after it comes out in print, it's a bit of a drag, but definately worth the wait. Thanks for the best cross stitch magazine in the world!!!!!!! I wouldn't think you would have to change anything!!!! All the best to you at the magazine, and thankyou for the inspiration!!!!!!!!

My favourite types of projects varies greatly just like the passing years and with 'influences' from other stitching bloggers.

Recently I bought some old issues of CrossStitcher from a fellow stitcher and discover the size of the squares in which the design/chart is printed, is different. They are much bigger than the present ones. I would really love to see that difference in the new mag. Bigger size of squares. It would be a great help to my eyes as I get older.

And how about introducing some French designers into your mags? I love the whimsical fairies, imps, fancy Alphabets.

I'm all for cute animals and traditional designs. I really dont like all the modern stuff, I especially dislike stuff like shoes and other so called 'girly' things. I noticed the new look resembles the new look of Quick and Easy a lot and I can only hope CrossStitcher wont change the deisgns it had so far to the same kind of designs of the new Q&E. From the moment Q&E changed there has been 1 project at most in each issue that I might consider stitching.

I DO NOT like the changes or New Look to the Magazine you have made at all. Many other people don't also. Go on Origin's Cross-stitching FORUM & you can read what other subscribers to you have already said about it. Go to: : http://cross-stitching.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6496099842/m/9111092693?r=9891033693#9891033693

Going down the same path as Quick & Easy did, is going to loose you MANY subscribers, just like the many you lost from that Magazine (being the same Company). So if you want to loose more subscribers you're going down the right path of doing so.

PUT IT BACK TO HOW IT PREVIOUSLY WAS!!!!!

If yourselves get bored with the same look to the magazine, think of what the subscribers like, more than yourselves just wanting a change of scenery!

Sorry, but I really don't like the new look mag at all. As the old saying goes, if its not broke don't fix it! I'm really disappointed and I think I'm going to have to cancel my subscription which makes me sad as I used to love the mag before you tampered with it. There was only one design that I might consider doing, other than that I feel that I have wasted my money.

I was disappointed with the new look Cross Stitcher. There is nothing in it that I want to stitch and there seems to be more adverts and not so much to read. I really liked the magazine as it was, it was my favourite, but now it is not so good. I hope that it improves with time or else I will have to cancel my subscription like I had to do with Q & E. Please put it back to how it was as we don't like changes.

As a subscriber I looked forward each month to Cross Stitcher magazine dropping through my letterbox. In the old style magazine there was lots to read and a choice of projects - although I am not enthusiastic about cutie designs I found there was a balance of designs for everyone.

I do hope you revert back to the old style Cross Stitcher because I am seriously considering cancelling my subscription if the new look Cross Stitcher doesn't have better content.

What happened to 'Look what i stitched'? Its one of the first pages i always look at.I'm 50/50 with the new look.I like parts of it but feel its gone a bit old fashioned.I know mags need updating now and again but its changed more to a comtempory feel rather than our friendly familiar magazine.

I'm sorry but I am not impressed at all with the new look to the mag. I was really pleased when I got home from work last night and saw that my copy had arrived... only to be completely let down when I opened it. Only thing I like in the mag is the Lily.

If it doesn't improve or revert back to how it was (when it was fantastic) then I am seriously considering cancelling my subscription

Put the Magazine back to how it was, it is too plain & boring a heading anyway. The previous one was better. I can't say there are many projects in this mag I liked on looking through it.

If you continue down this path I will be cancelling my subscription to yourselves & then the only Cross-Stitch Magazines I will be subscribing to will be 'Origin Publishing's' ones. I don't know what's up with Future Publishing to feel the need to do this.

Hi, I was very pleased to receive my issue 189 in the post, though I was disappointed that when I looked for the chart for the 'Lickle Ted' give away, it was not on page 8 as said in the little package. I thought it might be a misprint so I looked right through the magazine but with no luck. It is the first time I had a little spare time on my hands so I thought that it would be nice to try the small on of 'Lickle Ted'. Hope you can help!!!!!!!!!!
Yours hopin

I would love to give you my opinion on the new look but unfortunately I have yet to receive my subscription copy from you. Maybe when you see fit to send out my copy I will be able to let you know my comments.

I have to agree with all the above comments. I no longer buy Quick and Easy as I don't like it and if Cross Stitcher stays the same I may stop buying that. You had a good selection of magazines for all styles and abilities but now you are getting too 'crafty'. Please bring back the old style magazine.

Like the other ladies on here - I won't be buying this magazine again. Why change something that works. There doesn't actually seem to be an awful lot in it like the other one. I think I read this one in half the time. Please bring the old style back.

I am sorry I have to say I don't like the new look of Cross Stitcher. I miss the selection of having smaller charts. i think they was to much change in one go like the new look of Quick and easy.
Please change the magazine back.

This is such a boring site, every time I look at the forum, there are the same letters there. I think you should try to improve this site along with your magazine.

Posted by June (127.0.0.1) on July 12, 2007 at 05:58 PM BST #

I do not like the new look magazine, it was my favourite but not any more. The main thing is the very pale printing on say the penpals page, white on orange impossible to read if a light is shining on the page. I have just received the second one and do not like that either. Bring back the old style please.

What's wrong with the layout you've got now, and it wasn't that long ago that you changed it. It's fine, and I think you should perhaps put a questionnaire in the magazine for readers to fill in before you change anything.
